Abstract

Modern environmental problems demand a legal approach that is not only normative, but also based on strong values and ethics. This article aims to examine ecotheology in Islamic environmental law as a reflection of legal philosophy that can be a foundation in answering today's environmental problems. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach and legal philosophy analysis, which examines Islamic religious texts and literature related to ecotheology and environmental law. The results show that the Islamic ecotheological framework provides explicit environmental values and doctrines in religious texts, which emphasise the balance between humans and nature as a divine mandate. From the perspective of legal philosophy, the concept of ecotheology strengthens the normative and ethical foundation of Islamic environmental law, so that the law is not only a formal rule but also reflects moral values and ecological responsibility. In addition, ecotheological reflection in the renewal of Islamic legal construction is an important strategy to adapt the law to modern environmental challenges, so that Islamic law can be more responsive and progressive in preserving nature. This research confirms that the integration of ecotheology in Islamic environmental law is a relevant philosophical and practical solution in facing the global environmental crisis.
